RETECH4UAS is a pioneering initiative led by the Fuerteventura Technology Park through the RETECH4CAN project, which promotes the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for complex surveillance, environmental monitoring, and forest protection operations. The company awarded the project is A-techSYN, in consortium with Aerial Works SL, combining international and local operational expertise in an unprecedented technological deployment in the Canary Islands.

MORE INFO
The RETECH4UAS project was born from the award, through a European call for tender, to the company A-techSYN, in consortium with Aerial Works SL, for the deployment of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in the Fuerteventura Technology Park. The contract includes five BVLOS (beyond visual range) operations, which will involve between 1.500 and 2.000 flight hours, using CGT50 aircraft in VTOL and CTOL versions, equipped with advanced technology such as LiDAR sensors, hyperspectral cameras, and gimbals.
The base of operations will be located at the PTFSA Stratoport, and the collected data will be transmitted in real time to the ISSEC center. In addition, specific sensors will be integrated for environmental simulation and monitoring tasks, aligned with the objectives of the RETECH4CAN project, which focuses on forest protection.
One of the project's pillars is knowledge transfer. While the initial authorizations are being processed with the Spanish Air Safety Agency (AESA), Irish flight crews will undertake the first missions, while local personnel are selected and trained in Fuerteventura. This commitment to training will ensure long-term operational continuity, with human and technical resources based on the island.
The project involves a comprehensive operation: from the deployment and maintenance of the UAS, secure data transmission, obtaining permits for complex flights, to the training of pilots and technicians. In total, 445 flight blocks are planned to be executed over the 14-month project duration, under strict safety and operational efficiency standards.
Technical coordination, logistical support, and collaboration between national and international entities are key to the success of this deployment, which represents a significant step forward for the effective integration of UAS into civil and environmental protection applications in Spain.
